Follow these guidelines before and after your appointment for the safest, most beautiful, longest-lasting results.
Before Your Appointment
Radiesse Pre-Care
Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements for 5–7 days before treatment when medically safe — including aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo, ginseng and St. John's Wort. Never stop a prescribed medication without your doctor's approval.
Skip alcohol for at least 24–48 hours before treatment to reduce bruising and swelling.
Start arnica tablets or bromelain 2–3 days before to help minimize bruising (optional but recommended).
Stay well hydrated for several days leading up to treatment.
If you're prone to cold sores, ask us about a prophylactic antiviral before facial treatments.
Skip dental work, cleanings or any oral procedures for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after Radiesse in the lower face.
Avoid waxing, tinting, facials, chemical peels or laser treatments on the treatment area for 1 week prior.
Don't schedule Radiesse within 2 weeks of a major event — allow time for swelling and any bruising to fully resolve.
Let us know if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, have an active skin infection, or are unwell.
Eat a light meal beforehand to keep your blood sugar stable.
After Your Appointment
Radiesse Post-Care
Expect swelling and possible bruising — most resolve within 3–7 days. Lips and lower face may swell more noticeably.
Apply a clean ice pack wrapped in a soft cloth for 10 minutes on / 10 minutes off during the first few hours to reduce swelling and bruising.
Sleep slightly elevated on your back for the first 1–2 nights.
Skip strenuous exercise, hot yoga, saunas and steam rooms for 24–48 hours.
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and limit sodium-rich foods to minimize swelling.
Avoid pressure or massage on the treated area unless your provider specifically instructs you.
No dental work, cleanings or oral procedures for 2 weeks after Radiesse in the lower face.
Stay out of direct sun, tanning beds and extreme heat for 48 hours.
Continue arnica or bromelain for a few days after to help any bruising resolve faster.
Mild bruising, tenderness, lumps or asymmetry are normal in the first 2 weeks while the product settles. Final results show at 2–4 weeks.
Call us right away if you notice severe pain, sudden blanching (whitening) of the skin, intense or growing bruising, vision changes, or any unusual symptoms.
